The World's Most Durable Labels

Real-world testing demonstrates the exceptional durability of our TUFFLabels with TUFF Laminates.

Unretouched photos taken on February 28, 2025.
Control Label
This control TUFFLabel was printed and laminated with 4CL9 and stored indoors away from any UV light.
Exposed - Laminated
This test TUFFLabel was laminated with 4CL9 (8 mil) TUFF Laminate and exposed to extreme weather and UV for 44 months (top-mounted).
Exposed - No Laminate
This test label was printed without the protection of our TUFF Laminates and exposed to extreme weather and UV for 44 months (top-mounted).

Test Method

Our test labels were printed on June 4, 2021, and subjected to nearly four years of extreme weather conditions in the high desert of Southern Utah (elevation: ~5,000 feet). This region experiences scorching summers reaching above 100°F and freezing winters as low as 0°F. The abundant sunshine makes this area a prime location for solar farms so these labels endured intense UV exposure.
Test labels were both top-mounted (for extreme UV exposure) as well as and side-mounted (for everyday, real-word exposure). Most label applications are side-mounted.
As a control, identical labels were stored indoors, completely shielded from UV light. We tested labels with three different laminates, as well as unlaminated labels.

Test Results

Our TUFFLabels labels held up very well even in our extreme top-mounted tests with our 4CL9, 1AL4  and 1AL3 TUFF Laminates.
Most label manufacturers will not warranty their labels for much more than 6 months in this kind of environment. We expect our labels to last up to 10 years or more in side-mounted applications.
We will continue testing and report the results.

Summary

You can see a big difference between TUFFLabels laminated with TUFF Laminates vs. unlaminated labels. The unlaminated labels faded completely away where the laminated labels still show their colors.

Our top  TUFFLabels performers with the 4CL9 (8mil )and  1AL4 (1 mil) TUFF Laminates show very little fading even after nearly 4 years of extreme sun and weather exposure. These labels will their colors for years to come!
